Meet the Team
Chief Investment Officer
As Chief Investment Officer, Michael oversees Georgetown’s investment portfolios, including the endowment and retirement plan. Previously, Michael served as CIO at the University System of Maryland Foundation, where he started the Investment Office in 2003. At USMF, he was responsible for investment of the endowment and operating funds on behalf of the eleven member universities that invest with the USM Foundation Investment Office and six external non-profit institutions. Michael serves on the Board of Trustees for Georgetown Prep as the Chair of the Finance and Investment Committee. He serves or has served on the Investment Committees of Maryland State Pension, ICMA-RC Vantage Trust, Blue Haven Initiative, The Urban Institute, The France Merrick Foundation, The Big East Conference, The Council for Advancement and Support of Education, The Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities, No Greater Sacrifice and The CFA Society of Washington. Michael holds a BA in philosophy from Fairfield University and is a Chartered Financial Analyst. He holds a master’s degree from the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) at Johns Hopkins University.
Director, Private Investments
As Director of Private Investments, Kristi is responsible for the endowment’s private equity, real estate, infrastructure, and energy portfolios. Previously, Kristi led business development for the Small Business Investor Alliance, an organization of lower middle market private equity funds and investors. She also served as senior investment officer in the Investment Division of the U.S. Small Business Administration, where she was primarily responsible for due diligence and review of private equity and mezzanine funds on behalf of the Small Business Investment Company (“SBIC”) Program, a public-private investment fund with $9 billion under management. Kristi serves on the Capital City Public Charter School Board of Trustees and is a member of the Investment Advisory Committee for the Concord Hill School endowment. Kristi earned a BA in economics from Georgetown University and is a CFA charterholder.
Director, Public Investments
As Director of Public Investments, Chris is responsible for the endowment’s allocation to public equity, fixed income and absolute return products. Prior to joining the team at Georgetown, Chris was an analyst at Emerging Markets Management, an emerging market equity dedicated asset manager, where he covered both the Latin American and EMEA equity markets as well as the global energy sector. Chris earned an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a BA in economics and Spanish from Cornell University. He is a CFA charterholder.
Director, Absolute Return
Josh is the Director of Absolute Return Investments at Georgetown University’s Investment Office and oversees the endowment’s allocations to hedge funds, credit investments, and fixed income. Prior to joining Georgetown, Josh was a partner, portfolio manager, and co-head of credit investments at Taconic Capital Advisors, a multi-billion dollar New York-based hedge fund. He began his investing career at JP Morgan in New York, where he worked on the risk arbitrage trading desk. Josh also serves on the investment committees of the endowments of Haverford College, Bryn Mawr College, and Sidwell Friends School. He holds a BA in economics from Haverford College and an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
As Director of Operations, Nora manages investment accounting and taxes, technology and systems, performance analytics, and risk measurement. Prior to Georgetown, Nora served as the Managing Director of Financial Accounting & Compliance at Red Cross Investments where she was responsible for investment accounting, financial reporting and compliance. She also served as the Manager of Finance & Administration at Howard Hughes Medical Institute; she was with HHMI for over 10 years. She holds a BS in Accounting from Virginia Tech and is a CPA.
As an Associate Director, Ben primarily works on the endowment’s private asset classes, with a particular focus on venture capital and real estate. Ben started his career at Yale’s Investments Office, where he served for five years before joining the Georgetown team. At Yale, he was responsible for due diligence and review of funds for Yale’s $3 billion real estate portfolio. Ben earned a BA from Yale University, with a double major in Classics and Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry, and is a CFA charterholder.
As an Associate Director, Matt works across multiple functions – analytics and risk, operations, and investments. Prior to joining Georgetown, Matt worked in analytics for Novus Partners, a portfolio intelligence technology and consulting firm, as well as stops at two multi-strategy hedge funds. Matt has a BS in Economics and a BA in Business Administration from Villanova University, and is a CFA Charterholder.
As an Associate at the Investment Office, Teresa is responsible for due diligence and portfolio analysis, with a focus on private markets. Prior to joining Georgetown’s Investment Office, Teresa was a branch manager for JP Morgan Chase in Los Angeles. She holds a BA in Business Administration from the University of Southern California and received her MBA from Georgetown University.
Investment Operations Analyst
As an Analyst at the Investment Office, Alexis is responsible for supporting operations and administration. Prior to joining Georgetown’s Investment Office, Alexis was a Fund Accountant at Jackson National Asset Management in Chicago. She holds a BBA in Accounting from Loyola University Chicago and is currently pursuing her MA in Security Studies with an emphasis in Technology at Georgetown University.
