Philanthropic support is crucial to the growth of our endowment and plays an important role in Georgetown’s ability to fulfill its mission as a Catholic, Jesuit, and American university—a place of learning, teaching, research, formation, and service.

Endowment income is the principal source of dedicated, long-term financial support for the university. Gifts enable Georgetown to support scholarships, faculty research, campus improvements, and cutting-edge programs, all with the goal of nurturing future leaders for generations to come. 

Endowment gifts not only advance current needs but also the amount available for investment, strengthening our foundation in perpetuity. As the endowment grows, its annual support of the university’s operations increases, both in absolute terms and as a percentage of Georgetown’s overall budget, providing institutional stability.
