Chief Investment Officer
Michael Barry
As Chief Investment Officer, Michael oversees Georgetown’s investment portfolios, including the endowment and retirement plan. Previously, Michael served as CIO at the University System of Maryland Foundation, where he started the Investment Office in 2003. At USMF, he was responsible for investment of the endowment and operating funds on behalf of the eleven member universities that invest with the USM Foundation Investment Office and six external non-profit institutions. Michael serves on the Board of Trustees for Georgetown Prep as the Chair of the Finance and Investment Committee. He serves or has served on the Investment Committees of Maryland State Pension, ICMA-RC Vantage Trust, Blue Haven Initiative, The Urban Institute, The France Merrick Foundation, The Big East Conference, The Council for Advancement and Support of Education, The Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities, No Greater Sacrifice and The CFA Society of Washington. Michael holds a BA in philosophy from Fairfield University and is a Chartered Financial Analyst. He holds a master’s degree from the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) at Johns Hopkins University.
Managing Director
Chris Gill
As Managing Director, Chris is responsible for the endowment’s allocations to public equity, fixed income, credit, real estate and infrastructure. Prior to joining the team at Georgetown, Chris was an analyst at Emerging Markets Management, an emerging market equity dedicated asset manager, where he covered both the Latin American and EMEA equity markets as well as the global energy sector. He also serves on the Finance Committee of the Rock Creek Conservancy. Chris earned an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a BA in Economics and Spanish from Cornell University. He is a CFA charterholder.
Director, Private Investments
Ben VanGelder
As Director of Private Investments, Ben is responsible for the endowment’s private equity, credit, and real asset portfolios. Ben started his career at Yale’s Investments Office, where he served for five years before joining the Georgetown team. At Yale, he primarily covered due diligence and review of funds for Yale’s real estate portfolio. Ben earned a BA from Yale University, with a double major in Classics and Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry, and is a CFA charterholder.
Associate Director, Public Investments
Estelle Ith
As Associate Director, Estelle’s responsibilities include strategic allocation and manager selection across public equity, fixed income, infrastructure and credit. Estelle joined the team from Orbis Investments, a long-only public equity fund, where she covered the U.S. consumer sector. Prior to that, she was an investment associate at The Carlyle Group and an investment banking analyst at Credit Suisse. Estelle earned an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BS in Finance from Brigham Young University.
Investment Associate, Public Investments
Joseph Clark
As an Investment Associate specializing in Public Investments, Joseph’s responsibilities include strategic allocation and manager selection across public equity, fixed income and credit. Joseph started his career at UVIMCO (University of Virginia Investment Management Company), where he served for three and a half years before joining Georgetown’s Investment Office. Joseph earned a BA in Economics from the University of Virginia.
Investment Associate, Private Investments
Harry Bellwoar
As an Investment Associate specializing in Private Investments, Harry’s responsibilities include strategic allocation and manager selection across private equity, credit, and real assets. Prior to joining the team at Georgetown, Harry was an associate at True Wind, a technology focused private equity firm based in San Francisco. Harry started his career in New York with Goldman Sachs as an investment banking analyst. Harry earned a BA from Georgetown University, with a major in Economics and minors in Business Administration and Biology.
Operations Staff
Director, Operations
Will Duncan
As Director of Operations, Will is responsible for the endowment’s accounting, compliance, risk monitoring, and reporting functions. Now in his second tenure with Georgetown’s Investment Office, Will has also worked for Vanderbilt University’s Office of Investments and KPMG’s Federal Audit practice. Will holds a BS in Business Administration and a Master of Accounting from the University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School. He is a Certified Public Accountant.
Associate Director, Operations
Mary Amburgey
As Associate Director for Operations, Mary is responsible for fund administration, operational due diligence, and portfolio data management. Prior to joining Georgetown, Mary worked for Vanderbilt University’s Office of Investments. She holds a BA in Business Administration from Belmont University.
Investment Operations Associate
Keegan Raa
As Investment Operations Associate, Keegan supports the endowment’s accounting, compliance, risk monitoring, and reporting functions. Prior to joining Georgetown’s Investment Office, Keegan spent seven years in the Assurance practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Keegan holds a Bachelor of Business Science in Finance and Accounting and a Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting from the University of Cape Town. He is a Chartered Accountant, CA(SA).
Investment Operations Analyst
Jackie Petito
As an Analyst, Jackie supports office operations, accounting, and administration. Prior to her time at Georgetown, Jackie served as Assistant Director of the National Portrait Gallery’s scholarly center, PORTAL. Jackie received a B.A. in Art History and Anthropology from Washington College.
