Chief Investment Officer
As chief investment officer, Michael oversees Georgetown’s investment portfolios, including the endowment and retirement plan. Previously, Michael served as CIO at the University System of Maryland Foundation, where he started the Investment Office in 2003. At USMF, he was responsible for investment of the endowment and operating funds on behalf of the eleven member universities that invest with the USM Foundation Investment Office and six external non-profit institutions. Prior to his arrival at the Foundation, Michael served as a senior research associate at Cambridge Associates. Michael serves on the investment committees of the France-Merrick Foundation and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education. He previously served as a board member for the CFA society of Washington and as an advisory board member for No Greater Sacrifice. Michael holds a BA in philosophy from Fairfield University and is a Chartered Financial Analyst. He holds a master’s degree in international public policy from the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) at Johns Hopkins University.
Director of Operations
Max joined the Investment Office in June 2013. He is responsible for investment operations, technology and systems, investment accounting and taxes, performance analytics and risk measurement. Prior to joining Georgetown, Max worked in the audit practice at KPMG, focusing on financial statement audits of domestic and international corporations. Max holds a BS in accounting from Towson University. He is a Certified Public Accountant holding a CGMA designation, and a member of the American Institute of CPAs.
Director, Private Markets
As director of private markets, Kristi is responsible for the endowment’s private equity, real estate, infrastructure, and energy portfolios. Previously, Kristi led business development for the Small Business Investor Alliance, an organization of lower middle market private equity funds and investors. She also served as senior investment officer in the Investment Division of the U.S. Small Business Administration, where she was primarily responsible for due diligence and review of private equity and mezzanine funds on behalf of the Small Business Investment Company (“SBIC”) Program, a public-private investment fund with $9 billion under management. Kristi serves on the Capital City Public Charter School Board of Trustees and is a member of the Investment Advisory Committee for the Concord Hill School endowment. Kristi earned a BA in economics from Georgetown University and is a CFA charter holder.
Director, Public Markets
As director of public markets, Chris is responsible for the endowment’s allocation to public equity, fixed income and absolute return products. Prior to joining the team at Georgetown, Chris was an analyst at Emerging Markets Management, an emerging market equity dedicated asset manager, where he covered both the Latin American and EMEA equity markets as well as the global energy sector. Chris earned an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a BA in economics and Spanish from Cornell University. He is a CFA charter holder.
Director, Hedge Funds
As director of absolute return, credit and rates, Josh is responsible for the endowment's allocations to hedge funds, credit investments and fixed income. Prior to joining Georgetown's investment office, Josh was a partner, portfolio manager, and co-head of credit investments at Taconic Capital Advisors, LLC, a New York-based hedge fund. He began his investing career at JP Morgan in New York. Josh also serves on a number of investment committees in the endowment and family office world. He holds a BA in economics from Haverford College and an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania
