OVERVIEW

The Georgetown University Investment Office manages financial assets for the endowment and the university pension plan under the fiduciary oversight of a subcommittee of the Board of Directors.

The Investment Office's primary objective is to achieve the highest long-term total investment return on investment assets that is compatible with the university's risk tolerance and time horizons and consistent with prudent investment practices. Superior investment performance should, over the long term, maintain or enhance the purchasing power of the endowment so that its income distribution will provide at least as much support for the annual university budget in the future as it does at present.

Meeting this objective involves designing an investment program that addresses the needs of all generations of students by balancing the risks and returns of different asset allocations and the mix of investment managers.
